A BASE AT LAST & CLUB HONOURS

An historic season for the Cannels with two major highlights.

The Club finally secured a base at the Aspull Civic Hall after the sale to a local businessman by Wigan Council. A new clubroom was developed and came into use for the last 2 months of the season.

In October the Club were represented at the Wigan Borough Sports Awards and two Club members received awards. Tony McGarr our Academy Head Coach was a finalist in the "Unsung Hero" catergory and Club Secretary John Parker won the "Volunteer of the Year" award. Following this John represented Wigan in the Regional finals at Lancashire CC.

On the playing side we had the U`11 Reds win their respective division in the BBDFL, and the U`11 Town were runners up in botht he league & cup in the CLJFL. Both teams playing 9v9.

Our U`12s finished runners up in the CLJFL U`12 League and the Open Age team wre beaten finalists in the Houghton Memorial Cup.

Another new league for us this season, with the Girls Lionesses & Canaries joining the Warrington Girls League.

A Club Newsletter was published for the first time "The Cannels Courier" and we joined twitter.

Once again the season ended with a packed Civic Hall for our Presentation Day.
